Win a Chance at a Full Scholarship Worth $35,000 from The Art Institutes Schools
Needing that extra push to get started with an education in the culinary arts? If you're a high school senior who loves to cook and plans to go farther than your garden variety chef, The Art Institutes Schools' Best Teen Chef 2008 scholarship competition could be for you!
You can earn a full tuition scholarship at one of The Art Institutes Schools worth up to $35,000 to study culinary arts. This is just a part of the more than $200,000 in tuition scholarships awarded to Art Institute students each year. This competition is open to high school seniors across the U.S. and Canada. The Best Teen Chef scholarship competition finale takes place at The Art Institute of Dallas.
A successful chef needs to be passionate about more than just cooking a good meal. It's a lifelong pursuit that many people just aren't built for. When a real world-class chef breaks through, it's a rare occurrence worth celebrating. "It's a lucky few who succeed in the highly competitive field of culinary arts without a formal culinary education," says Michael Nenes, Assistant Vice President of Culinary Arts for The Art Institutes Schools.
The love of cooking and dedication to the craft of cooking has launched the careers of several past Best Teen Chef winners, including 2003 Best Teen Chef winner Patricia Homma. Patricia is currently in charge of garde manger under the direction of Belgian Chef Olivier de Busschaeron at Nikolai's Roof, an AAA 4-Diamond and Mobile 4-Star Restaurant in Atlanta. Both Lewis and Homma were featured on national television for their Best Teen Chef wins, including CBS' The Early Show, the Today Show, CNN and Fox.
The Best Teen Chef competition takes place in two stages. Local competitions will be announced for 2008 and held at participating Art Institute locations throughout North America. Keep your eye out for emerging details on the next competition at www.artinstitutes.edu/btc.
